Keeping people connected across the Morsani College of Medicine鈥檚 largest department is no small undertaking. With more than 24 divisions, programs and centers, the Department of Internal Medicine represents over half of the college鈥檚 faculty and providers.
For nearly two decades, Jennifer Newcomb has helped provide a vital link across the
expansive community, bringing the department together through thoughtful communication,
collaboration and a commitment to sharing the stories that matter most.
Since joining the department in 2007, Newcomb has served in several roles, including
research assistant and managing editor. Today, as communications and marketing administrator,
she works closely with faculty and staff across the department to highlight its programs,
publications, achievements and key initiatives.
She coordinates speakers for the department鈥檚 weekly Roy H. Behnke, MD, Grand Rounds
and serves as editor of the Internal Medicine Team Rounds newsletter. Through her
efforts, she ensures faculty, staff, trainees and stakeholders stay informed about
key activities while recognizing the people advancing its core missions.
In recognition of her dedication to strengthening communication and fostering connection
across the department, Newcomb was awarded a USF Health Culture Coin on July 24.
The Culture Coin recognizes faculty and staff who exemplify USF Health鈥檚 values and demonstrate outstanding dedication to its mission of Making Life Better through education, research and patient care.
The honor was presented by Mark G. Moseley, MD, MHA, president of USF Tampa General
Physicians and professor and chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at the USF
Health Morsani College of Medicine.
鈥淲hen I joined the department as chair in the summer of 2024, I relied heavily on
Jennifer and her expertise to strengthen our communication efforts across all available
channels,鈥 said Dr. Moseley. 鈥淓ffective communication is essential to the success
of any organization, and Jennifer has done an outstanding job keeping our large and
diverse department informed and connected.鈥
Arjun S. Patel, senior department administrator for the Department of Internal Medicine
at the Morsani College of Medicine, also recognized Newcomb鈥檚 impact on the department鈥檚
culture and sense of community.
鈥淛ennifer is the consummate communications professional, working tirelessly to support
our ambitious goals,鈥 Patel said. 鈥淏elonging is extended bi-directionally, and Jennifer
plays a key role in ensuring our teams are informed, and equally important, feel a
part of our collective goal of Making Life Better.鈥
