USF鈥檚 Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing students marked a milestone Friday as they took part in the college鈥檚 inaugural induction ceremonies that celebrated their entry into the engineering and computer science professions.
They gathered with their families in the Marshall Student Center Ballroom for the Order of the Engineer and the Computer Science and Engineering Induction into the Profession ceremonies.

The Bellini College is the first in Florida, and among the first in the nation, to bring AI, cybersecurity and computing together under one umbrella. Today, the college has about 70 faculty members and 3,000 students.
"Those of you graduating with the Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing name on your diploma are part of our very first graduating class 鈥 something that will always be special to us,鈥 said Sudeep Sarkar, the college's launch dean.
Graduates in the engineering field took part in the Order of the Engineer ceremony, which emphasizes the ethical responsibilities of the profession and included receiving a stainless-steel ring. They recited the oath, a moment Associate Dean Ken Christensen said marks their transition from students to practicing engineers.

The Bellini College鈥檚 computer science students also participated in an induction ceremony, where students accepted a pin symbolizing their commitment to integrity and professional conduct.
鈥淎s the inaugural class to take part in these traditions as part of the Bellini College, these graduates help establish a new chapter for these ceremonies at USF,鈥 Sarkar said. 鈥淔aculty and staff recognize the significance of the moment and the achievements that brought students to this milestone.鈥
Sarkar, who oversaw the ceremonies, noted that the event carried meaning not only for students but also for the people who supported them along the way. As the program concluded, students stood, turned to face their families, and applauded them.
鈥淭his is also a meaningful moment for all the families in the room,鈥 Sarkar said. 鈥淎s a parent myself, I understand what it takes to support a student through a journey like this. None of us reaches a day like this alone. Today is a day to celebrate you as well 鈥 for the support, patience, and encouragement you have given along the way.鈥
