Nineteen new students welcomed into Dean鈥檚 Student Leadership Society
The USF College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) welcomed 19 new members to the Dean鈥檚 Student Leadership Society (DSLS). DSLS students are chosen for their superior leadership skills, often serving as volunteer coordinators, executive board members, or critical points of contact on behalf of CAS. DSLS also provides students with mentorship opportunities, professional development workshops, and year-round networking.

USF Tampa campus adds 44 new trees in honor of Arbor Day
The USF Tree Committee, which is comprised of USF faculty, staff, students, and volunteers from the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County, the city of Temple Terrace, Tampa Electric (TECO), and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, hosted a tree planting ceremony on March 28i n honor of Arbor Day (April 28).

Chemistry students practice presentation skills at Castle Conference
The USF College of Arts and Sciences Department of Chemistry held its annual Raymond N. Castle Student Research Conference in early March. The conference, which is organized largely by students, showcases both undergraduate and graduate student research with the intent for 鈥測oung scientists to develop the necessary communication skills to excel in the future.鈥

Conference on im/migrant well-being launches new center
The USF College of Arts and Sciences鈥 Im/migrant Well-Being Research Center and co-sponsor Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute at The George Washington University (GWU) hosted the inaugural biennial conference, 鈥淚m/migrant Well-Being: A Nexus for Research & Policy鈥 at the Hilton, St. Petersburg on February 17-18.

USF researchers asked to evaluate a new police program
The 最新天美传媒鈥檚 Center for Justice Research and Policy (CJRP) has been funded to evaluate a new community police program in St. Petersburg, Fla. where case workers are sent to respond to emergency, non-crime 911 calls instead of law enforcement.
