In April 2024, Jean-Fran莽ois Biasse (PI), Xiang-Dong Hou (Co-PI), Giacomo Micheli (Co-PI), Dmytro Savchuk (Co-PI) and Razvan Teodorescu (Co-PI) (above) received a $2.5M award from the NSF Research Training Groups (RTG) program. This 5-year grant supports research and training in Applied Algebra (cryptography, coding theory and quantum computing) at all levels (undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral). It also involves senior personnel from our department (Lukas K枚lsch), and from the colleges of AI, Education, and Engineering. It is the largest award ever received by the USF Mathematics & Statistics Department, and the only RTG grant ever awarded to a Florida institution.
