With support from Cyber Florida, Muma College of Business offers free cybersecurity training for Florida state and local government employees. Professors Shivendu Shivendu and Varol Kayhan lead a diverse team of researchers, professionals, and graduate students to develop and support the training. Available resources span various levels of interests, technical abilities, and organizational roles.

This self-paced, online course is suitable for participants of all backgrounds, working in various departments and agencies in technical or non-technical roles, and performing various non-managerial or managerial tasks. No prior technical knowledge or skills are required to successfully complete the course. On average participants are expected to complete the course in four hours.
Participants are introduced to key topics such as how to recognize common cyber threats and handling sensitive data. Other subjects of note include:
- Phishing & common email scams
- Password security & safe online behavior
- Ransomware, scareware, viruses, & malware
- Social engineering tactics

This course supports agencies that are unsure where to begin in evaluating and strengthening their organization’s readiness against cyber threats. Using the Cybersecurity Framework 2.0, this course offers a step-by-step guide to improving an agency’s cybersecurity posture.
The course is presented virtually in a 2-hour synchronous format, every other month.
This self-paced, online course is intended for personnel who are responsible for implementing, managing, and supporting compliance with state law requiring the use of NIST compliant standards. It provides detailed guidance and access to supporting documentation to operationalize CSF requirements in their departments. Building on the strategic and foundational knowledge introduced in Executive-level Cybersecurity training and CSF Live Online training, this course is designed for individuals and teams actively involved in operational cybersecurity and risk management activities.
This online, synchronous course is scheduled once a month – usually on the fourth Thursday, 8:30-12:30 eastern time. It is tailored for senior-level administrators such as C-level executives, department heads, and senior IT professionals. It equips leaders to make informed decisions and provide strategic guidance in protecting their organizations against cyber threats, with topics ranging from business continuity and disaster recovery to governance and compliance.
This self-paced, online course prepares participants for the GIAC Security Leadership (GSLC) certification exam. On average, participants are expected to complete the entire course in approximately 25 hours. The GSLC certification validates a practitioner's understanding of governance and technical controls focused on protecting, detecting, and responding to security issues. GSLC certification holders have demonstrated knowledge of data, network, host, application, and user controls, along with key management topics that address the overall security lifecycle.
This self-paced online course is designed for mid-level managers, supervisors, and team leads responsible for overseeing cybersecurity within their departments. Participants should have a solid understanding of their department's operations and possess basic familiarity with cybersecurity concepts. The course prepares managers to better protect their departments while covering key topics such as cyber risk awareness, cyber impacts, computer networks, and artificial intelligence. Participants are expected to complete the entire course in approximately eight hours.
This self-paced, online course is designed for professionals (e.g., cybersecurity practitioners, IT managers, network administrators, system analysts) who aspire to obtain the ISC2-CC certification. It provides a comprehensive understanding of concepts covered in the ISC2-CC certification exam while offering the knowledge and skills to protect their organizations against cyber threats.
The course comprises of five modules, allowing participants to progress through the material at their preferred pace. Each module consists of engaging video lectures, interactive assessments, and case studies that reinforce the learning experience. On average, participants are expected to complete the entire course in approximately 20 hours.
Tabletop exercises (TTXs) are guided, discussion-based sessions that bring together employees from local and state government agencies to walk through realistic cybersecurity scenarios and practice coordinated decision-making.
Each 2-3 hour exercise will focus on a contemporary cybersecurity threat including phishing attacks, ransomware incidents, social engineering campaigns, AI-Adaptive DDoS attacks, and supply chain compromise events.
