Training the Brain to Outpace Dementia

USF's PACT study has received another $2.8 million from the National Institutes of Health, pushing its total federal funding past $50 million. Led by Jennifer O'Brien of USF St. Petersburg, the trial is testing whether computerized brain training can lower dementia risk. With 7,600 older adults enrolled, it is the largest of its kind.

Fighting the Viruses That Age the Brain

Eleni Markoutsa of USF Health's Institute for Translational Virology and Innovation is exploring how viral infections may quietly speed up brain aging and raise Alzheimer's risk. Her NIH-funded lab designs therapies that reach past the blood-brain barrier, aiming to intervene before lasting damage takes hold.

Free Seats, For You

From Sunday afternoon chamber music and jazz nights to student plays, dance concerts, and gallery exhibitions, the USF Arts District offers a full season of live performances and art, and nearly all of it is free and open to the public.
