The international symposium brought together hundreds of participants, including surgeons, medical students, researchers and health professionals committed to advancing leadership, mentorship and career development for women in surgical fields.
The SWIRL team presented "Post-Separation Abuse Experiences of South Asian Immigrant Women Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence: Implications for Practice," which brought to light the lived experiences of South Asian immigrant women navigating abuse after leaving abusive partners. The presenters included Samridhi Bhardwaj, Sakshi Wagh, Sirinandini Amperayani, Kamakshi J. Singh, Subadra Panchanadeswaran, PhD, professor at the Adelphi University School of Social Work, and Manisha Joshi, PhD, associate professor and director of SWIRL.
