Welcome to 2025 fall semester at USF

Dear students,

As fall classes get underway today, it is my pleasure to welcome you to a new academic year at the ×îÐÂÌìÃÀ´«Ã½! As a proud USF alumna, I know from personal experience how much our university can impact the lives of our students, and we are here to help you achieve your educational and career goals.

You are part of a university that continues to shatter records, achieve milestones faster than many thought was possible and expand its impact. People are taking notice and the interest in being part of Bulls Nation has never been higher.

For summer/fall 2025, I am thrilled to announce that we received the most applications ever from first-time-in-college students. With more than 71,000 applications, we saw an increase of nearly 5% over last year. We are also on track to have a record-setting academic profile for this fall’s incoming class of students.

Our newest class of more than 130 medical students carries an average MCAT score of 520 – among the top 3% nationwide – reflective of our ranking as the No. 1 medical school in Florida and in the highest tier nationwide, according to U.S. News & World Report.

In addition, we are excited to welcome more than 200 new faculty members who are joining our current group of world-class scholars. Many of the talented, accomplished faculty we are welcoming to Tampa Bay come to us from fellow members of the prestigious Association of American Universities and other highly regarded institutions – a sign that ×îÐÂÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ is a destination for academic and research excellence.

I am happy to share that we continue to add new academic programs, support services and on-campus experiences for our students, which I invite you to read more about here.

As a reminder, we are in the middle of hurricane season, which runs through Nov. 30. The USF Hurricane Guide is a valuable resource to help you prepare as you review your personal plan.

With so much momentum for our university, this is a great time to be at USF. I encourage you to stay active on campus – join a student organization, build a network of peers and attend Bulls games. I hope to see you this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. for our first home football game against the nationally ranked Boise State Broncos.

Throughout the upcoming year, you can stay connected with me on and , where I regularly post highlights from across our university. I wish you all a wonderful start to the semester. Go Bulls!

Sincerely,

Rhea F. Law

President
