- On 12 August 2025, Prof. Arena delivered an invited talk at the "Spin and Electronic Order: Symmetry, Topology, Disorder, and Fluctuations鈥 Workshop of the 2025 User鈥檚 Meeting of the Advanced Light Source, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, CA. The topic of the talk was 鈥淥pportunities for Magnetization Dynamics and Nanomagnetism with High Coherence X-ray Sources."

- Graduate students, Ayomipo and Vimukthi attended and presented posters at the 2025
IEEE Magnetics Society Summer School in San Diego, CA.
- Prof. Arena delivered an invited talk at the Recent Trends in Biophysics and Spintronics Conference 鈥 2025, held at Ashoka University, Sonepat, Haryana, India combined with a visit to the
Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
- Graduate student Ayomipo has received the APS Topical Group on Magnetism and its Applications
(GMAG) Student Travel Award to present his research at the APS Global Physics Summit
in Anaheim, California.
- Prof. Arena, in collaboration with faculty from the University of Central Florida, Morgan State University, and the City University of New York, has been awarded $2.25 million for the next three years by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) to conduct research on advancing communication technologies with ferrimagnets. - Prof. Arena receives a second grant of $489,964 from the National Science Foundation
to conduct research on "Ferrimagnetic / Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Heterostructures for Efficient Opto-Spintronic
Devices."
2024
- Prof. Arena and Vimukthi finished up a beam time run at the MAXYMUS beam line at BESSY-II
investigating magnetic dynamics at the nanoscale.
- Graduate student Shah Qasim Jan has been awarded a highly competitive travel grant
to attend the 30th CHRNS School on Methods and Applications of Small Angle Neutron
Scattering and Neutron Reflectivity, hosted at NIST in Maryland, USA.

Prof. Arena receives a grant of $300,000 from the National Science Foundation to conduct research on 鈥淪ynthesis of and New Functionality in Heteroepitaxial Gallate / Ferrite Core@Shell Nanoparticles鈥.
- Noha Alzharani successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation.
