three people sitting on a bench overlooking Swiss mountain tops

The Judy Genshaft Honors College invites alumni to join us for a special journey through Switzerland and Milan. From historic cities and alpine villages to mountain railways, glaciers, and some of Europe’s most scenic train routes, this eight-day experience during mid-May 2027 offers a closer look at the places, people, and culture than your average tour.

Beyond the Postcard is an opportunity to travel with fellow members of the Honors community, reconnect with USF, and experience a trip thoughtfully designed by Honors alum and Swiss tour guide Laura Badertscher.

The Itinerary: Eight Days of Cities, Mountains, and Rails

Our Beyond the Postcard journey begins in Zürich and travels through some of Switzerland’s most striking landscapes before crossing the Alps into Milan.

Travelers will spend six nights in Zürich and two nights in Milan, using Switzerland's extensive rail network to explore the country without constantly changing hotels.

The journey concludes with time to experience Milan at your own pace.

FAQs

Can non-USF alumni travel with the program?

Yes! Non-USF alumni can be invited as guests on all Beyond the Postcard trips.

Why should I travel with the Honors College?

Travel is more meaningful when you share it with a community. We want to give alumni the opportunity to explore new places alongside fellow Honors Bulls while staying connected to that curiosity and sense of community that shaped their college experience. Rather than navigating an international trip on your own, you can enjoy a thoughtfully planned experience with transportation, activities, and many daily logistics already coordinated.
