The number of high-impact researchers at the USF College of Marine Science is on the rise, according to , which uses citation impact to identify the top two percent of researchers worldwide. This is the second time in three consecutive years that the college has increased its representation on the list.

Across 22 scientific fields of study in 2024, 14 current researchers and two emeritus faculty members from the College of Marine Science made the list for their career-long and single-year citations. Compared to results from last year, two researchers, Tim Conway and Jacqueline Dixon, were added to the list in the fields of geochemistry and geophysics.

鈥淭his report underscores the caliber of research produced by our faculty at the College of Marine Science,鈥 said Tom Frazer, professor and dean of CMS. 鈥淭he strong single-year citation record shows that our work addresses pressing, real-world issues, while the career-long citations speak to its lasting scientific influence.鈥
