One USF Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium 2026

The 2026 OneUSF Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium takes place on the USF St. Petersburg campus on Wednesday, July 22 in the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library, and the Tampa campus on Thursday, July 23 in the Judy Genshaft Honors College Atrium. The symposium is open to all USF undergraduates, USF alums who are within 1-year post-baccalaureate, and all Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU), Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) in Engineering and Computer Science, and Interdisciplinary Research Experiences for Undergraduates (IRES) who participate in a USF-sponsored program. The symposium is free, and members of the public are encouraged to attend, view posters, and support our scholars.
Deadlines and schedule
- Applications open: Monday, May 11
- Applications close: Monday, July 13
- Notification letters sent: Tuesday, July 14
- Registration opens (Wednesday, July 1) and closes (Thursday, July 16)
The symposium is free and we encourage the public to attend to view posters and support our researchers.

- Check in: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Opening remarks and refreshment: 2:00 p.m.
- Keynote speaker: 2:30 p.m.
- Poster session: 3:00 – 5:30 p.m.
- Symposium Conclusion: 5:30 p.m.

Bus Transportation Between Campuses
Charter bus transportation will be provided between the USF Tampa and USF St. Petersburg campuses for the 2026 OneUSF Summer Undergraduate Research Symposia. Please arrive early to allow enough time for boarding. Buses will depart promptly at the scheduled departure times.

FAQ
Q: How will I know if my application was received?
A: Upon successful submission, you will receive an automated email indicating your
submission has been received.
Q: Do I need a faculty mentor to present my research?
A: Yes. All presenters must have a USF affiliated faculty mentor.
Q: Do I need to notify my mentor of my submission?
A: YES! Before you submit an application, you should notify your research mentor that
you are applying to present. (REU, RET, and IRES faculty will be aware but other mentors
should be notified.) Your faculty mentor will also receive an auto-generated email
of your submission.
Q: What is the maximum number of authors that can work on a single project?
A: Although there is no limit on the size of your research group, we will only include
the first six authors in the program.
Q: What should I wear to the event?
A: Comfortable business-casual or smart-casual attire is recommended for the event.
Q: Is the event open to the public?
A: Yes. All are welcome to view the projects and support our researchers. RSVP here.

If so, the library has created many amazing Workshops for Researchers to support you.
Poster Printing
- Posters must be formatted at 48" W x 36" H. Poster templates are provided for convenience and may be customized; however, the final poster size must remain 48" x 36". You may create your own design, provided it follows USF branding guidelines for colors and logos.
- You can print your poster at any time prior to the symposium. It is highly recommended
to print your poster as early as possible, or at least 48 hours in advance!
- Posters can be printed in the , , or through one of the .
- Students may print posters in the Tampa library for $22.46 (Satin) or $15.90 (Plain).
- ProCopy also provides poster printing services and provides a discount to USF students.
- Presenters are responsible for finding their poster spot, securing their poster(s) to the provided poster board, and removing their poster(s) at the end of the conference.
