Case Competition

The Florida Registered Programs Summit provides students of financial planning or wealth management programs with a chance to participate in the following financial planning challenge.

Eligibility

  • The competition is open to undergraduate and combined-degree students.

  • Teams must consist of 2–4 members from the same institution.

  • A maximum of two teams may represent the same institution.

  • All teams need a faculty advisor and may have an industry advisor.

Key Information & Deliverables

  • This challenge will be an oral presentation only and should be delivered as if you are speaking directly to a client, summarizing the key elements of their financial plan in a clear and professional manner.

  • The presentation should last between 10 and 20 minutes, followed by a Q&A session with the judges.

  • Any presentation slide format is permitted, and slides may include walkthroughs of financial planning software reports or simulations.

  • To participate, please fill out the to register your team for the case competition.

  • Results will be announced the same day at the conclusion of the competition.

Evaluation Criteria

All four evaluation criteria will have equal weight.

  • Communication: This criterion evaluates how clearly and professionally the financial plan is presented, both orally and through PowerPoint.

  • Analysis: This measures how effectively the presenter analyzes the client’s financial situation using both qualitative and quantitative information.

  • Recommendations: This assesses the quality, clarity, and strategic alignment of the financial recommendations.

  • Overall Plan Cohesion & Comprehensiveness: This criterion evaluates how well the entire financial plan flows, integrates its components, and presents a cohesive strategy.

Use of Financial Planning Software and AI

Participants are permitted to use financial planning software such as MoneyGuidePro, eMoney, or similar tools. These resources can enhance the accuracy and professionalism of the presentation for the judges; however, their use is completely optional and not part of the evaluation criteria. 

Participants may also use AI tools to support the development of their presentation and improve their professionalism. All content must be original, and the final presentation should reflect the team members’ own work.
