2026 E-Insights Report
About this Report
The State of the Region E-Insights report examines the performance of the Tampa Bay region relative to comparable metropolitan areas across the United States. Since 2017, researchers at the 最新天美传媒 have produced a series of E-Insights reports exploring regional economic conditions, competitiveness, and quality-of-life trends. Over time, this work has expanded to address issues such as inclusive growth, the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and disparities in opportunity and well-being.
The 2026 E-Insights report focuses on three interconnected dimensions of regional performance: Economic Outcomes, Education and Opportunity, and Quality of Life. Together, these themes provide a comprehensive view of how the regional economy is performing, how opportunity is created and accessed, and how economic and social conditions are experienced by residents in their daily lives.
This report places Tampa Bay in context through comparative analysis, rather than
ranking.
Comparisons are based on data availability, relevance, and indicator-specific considerations,
rather than on a fixed set of peer metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs). For most
indicators, Tampa Bay is evaluated alongside a minimum of 10 comparable MSAs. While
the specific comparison group may vary across indicators, the analytical framework
remains consistent, allowing readers to interpret results within a broader national
context.
Indicators are presented descriptively, with an emphasis on identifying patterns, contrasts, and areas of relative strength or pressure. The report does not advance specific policy prescriptions or forecasts. Instead, it is intended to support informed discussion among policymakers, planners, educators, business leaders, and community organizations by providing a shared, evidence-based understanding of regional conditions.
Data for the E-Insights report are drawn primarily from established public sources, including the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the National Center for Education Statistics. Indicators are generally reported at the metropolitan statistical area (MSA) level. For regions composed of multiple MSAs, including the Tampa Bay region, data is aggregated to the regional level using population-weighted averages. Definitions and data sources for each indicator are provided with the data visualizations.
By combining regional comparison with a people-centered analytical lens, the State of the Region E-Insights report clarifies how economic and social change is unfolding across Tampa Bay, and how those changes are shaping opportunity, stability, and quality of life across the region.
We hope this report serves as a valuable resource for those working to shape Tampa Bay鈥檚 future and contributes to thoughtful dialogue about how economic and social change is unfolding across our community.
